Overthrowing Resistance in Times of Reformation
In light of the attack that has just been launched on Iran by the US and Israel on February 28, 2026 and the subsequent retaliation from Iran, I wanted to release a prophetic word I wrote after the October 7th attack in 2023. I believe it is important to have a prophetic perspective on what is happening now, not just a political one, so we know how to pray. This is not merely informational, but a call to arms for the Ekklesia, the church, to pray strategically to see:

This is not just a natural modern war, but one that is rooted in resisting the ancient demonic entity known in scripture as the Prince of Persia who was found to be a resistant force against God’s purposes of reformation and revival in the nations. In Daniel 10 we see Daniel’s prayers fueling a heavenly battle in which Gabriel is sent with a prophetic message but is delayed until Michael, the archangel, comes and fights this Persian principality. This article will explain exactly who/what the Prince of Persia is.
To begin, I believe the Prince of Persia is one of Satan’s generals that is deployed during times of great reformation and revival in the earth. Clearly, we are in such a season now. Missions organizations have noted the unprecedented conversions of Iranians to Christianity, labeling it the fastest growing church on earth. Some suggest there may now be more Christians in Iran than Muslims.
However, it has been reported that some 30-40,000 people have been massacred in recent weeks in Iran under the oppressive regime. Today, it was reported the Ayatollah and his top leaders were killed in the attack. Clearly, revolution is at hand. But even righteous revolutions must follow through with setting up just governments to fill the void. The battle for a reformed Iran has just begun. The battle to see the ancient control of the Prince of Persia dethroned.

The battle in ancient times could not have been won by mere earthly resistance, but was accomplished through the prayers and intervention of God’s people, Daniel, Esther, Zerubbabel, etc., which activated angel armies. We are in a similar time now. The ekklesia cannot just watch the news and pray the natural war is successful, but must ask the Lord for heavenly intervention and the activation of Michael and the Angel Armies to fight to free Iran from tyranny.
It is not by chance this is happening the week Jewish people celebrate Purim, the holiday of reversals, in which the decrees of death and destruction against God’s people were overthrown. In June of 2022 God spoke to me the “time for the hanging of Haman’s 10 sons was at hand.” This refers to the end of a generations old conflict between God’s people and the Amalekite spirit partnering with the Prince of Persia. The result was revival broke out in the land of Persian, with even Persian government officials siding in favor of the Jews. Mordecai and Esther were promoted to governmental positioning that shifted the land. Let this be a new Purim for Israel and believers everywhere.
It was a time of battle as their enemies were defeated. It was a time of great joy as God’s people were made free!
Jesus affirmed heavenly battles when he stated, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me.” (Matthew 28:18) He followed it with a command to transform nations: “Go therefore, and make disciples of all nations.” The time of discipling nations is at hand!
The following is what I wrote in 2023 that brings clarity to our current battle:
On Friday night, October 6th, 2023 I was scheduled to minister at our church. That night I felt led to preach on the Cyrus anointing that God wanted to activate in His Ekklesia. Cyrus the Great is spoken of in Isaiah 44,45, Jeremiah 51:20 and Ezra 1 as the man who conquered Babylon, let the Jewish captives go free and provided wealth and weapons for them to return to their homeland and rebuild their temple and their city. It was a profound time of reset and reformation. We are in a similar time of spiritual contending and God is raising up His Ekklesia to liberate captives, release reformation and revival and rebuild godly culture in cities and nations. Of course, as the church, our battle is not with flesh and blood but with carnal weapons but with spiritual weapons dealing with principalities, powers and dominions in the spiritual realm. However, our national forces may have to fight a natural war with human foes with natural weapons in response to this spiritual war that is being waged.
That night I also felt we needed to be aware of the re-emerging demonic force known as the prince of Persia, which is an ancient spirit out of the territory of modern day Iran that wants to create chaos and resistance against Israel, but also against God’s people and awakening and revival plans worldwide. It is also, an Islamic force that wants to invade the earth with its dominion. I have since learned that, not coincidentally, Apostle Tim Sheets ministered on this subject on the same evening in Ohio.
I had been feeling for weeks that the last day of the Feast of Tabernacles, Hoshana Rabbah was significant and we needed to pray. October 7th was that day. I will say that night I felt an almost panicked feeling before ministering. I realized it was an urgency in the spirit but I did not know why.
The next morning I awakened to learn of the horrific attack by the terrorist organization Hamas, against Israel. Iran (Persia) celebrated this attack, with a shared goal of the annihilation of the nation of Israel. A new season of battle with the principality called the prince of Persia had begun and God’s ekklesia needed to answer a spiritual call to arms.
God has spoken to many of the prophets that we are in a time of great shaking. Haggai 2:21-23 in the Message Bible declares, “I am about to shake up everything, to turn everything upside down and start over from top to bottom—overthrow governments, destroy foreign powers, dismantle the world of weapons and armaments, throw armies into confusion, so that they end up killing one another.” Hebrews 12:26b speaks of this shaking saying, “Once and for all I will not only shake the systems of this world, but also the unseen powers in the heavenly realm.” (TPT).
But I heard the Lord say to tell His people, “The shaking will be their making.”
Prophetically God has declared not just shaking, but a great awakening and revival. He has been at work reforming and restoring His ekklesia to its true identity and authority. There is a parallel for us in looking at what God did in reforming and restoring the Jews, and the rebuilding of the second temple in the days after Babylonian captivity. Daniel, Esther, Haggai, Zechariah, Malachi, Ezra and Nehemiah are all books about reformation and transformation that give us insightful keys about our reformation process today. The Book of Ezra deals with reforming and rebuilding the temple (the ekklesia). Nehemiah deals with reforming and rebuilding the city. (Transformation of cities and nations). Esther deals with breaking the decrees of death and destruction and releasing decrees of divine reversal by which nations are turned around. Esther’s decrees broke the power of the spirit of Haman, which was rooted in the convergence of the Prince of Persia spirit and the ancient spirit of the Amalekites, who always tried to rob, kill and destroy God’s people. The other reformation books dealing with the Jews are all the writings of prophets, without whom reformation and restoration are not possible. All of these books were written while the Persian Empire was controlling the region, including Israel.
Present behind the scenes in these reformation books was a demonic spirit, resisting them every step of the way. Cyrus released the decree to deliver the Jews out of captivity. They began to return to reclaim their land. They laid the foundation of the temple then BAM! Another king, Ahaseurus, tells them to stop. (By the way this king’s name means I will be silent and poor” (Strong’s #325) which is definitely what the enemy wants to do against the church today.) Zerrubabel begins to rebuild the city of Jerusalem when BAM! Sanballot, Tobiah and others raised up an opposition force against them. Esther, a Jewess, becomes queen of the Persian Empire when BAM! Haman releases a decree of death and destruction to all Jews. Daniel was leading the people of God in prayers of repentance turning them back to God (a huge part in reformation). He was also counseling and prophesying to Persian kings when BAM! He gets thrown into the lions’ den. Shadrach, Meshach and Abednigo are standing true to their faith and refusing to bow to the political correctness of the day and BAM! They are thrown into a fiery furnace. Praise God each of these stories of opposition and resistance ends with victory and glory to God. But are these isolated incidents or is there a common foe behind these attacks? Obviously, I believe so.

In Daniel 10, it had been three years since Cyrus released the captives to return and advance the reformation in Jerusalem and yet Daniel remains a servant in Persia. We find him fasting and praying for the Jewish people with deep agony of soul, for the reformation which began with such celebration is now stalled out. The fathers went back and re-laid the foundation of the temple but then the people of the land rose up against them. Ezra 4:4-5 says, “Then the people of the land tried to discourage the people of Judah. They troubled them in building, and hired counselors against them to frustrate their purpose all the days of Cyrus king of Persia, even until the reign of Darius king of Persia.” After this Ahaseurus writes a different decree shutting the building progress down. In short, reformation was stalled and Daniel was grieved.
After 21 days, the angel, Gabriel, showed up and delivered a message of strength to him, giving him insight on what, or should I say “who”, was fueling this resistance. Gabriel says he had to contend with the “prince of Persia” who had delayed answers and understanding from coming to Daniel. This was a principality in the heavenly realm which inspired Ahasuerus, Haman, Sanballot, Tobiah and others to do what was necessary to hinder God’s people in the reformation process and keep control over nations. The archangel, Michael, had to come and fight this principality in order for Gabriel’s message to get through and advancement of reformation to take place.
I believe we are once again dealing with the prince of Persia in the earth today. It is interesting that when one looks at a map of ancient Persia we see all the places that are in the news where the enemy is setting up strongholds against Israel, the gospel and God’s people. Iraq, Iran, Afghanistan, Syria, Lebanon, Yemen, Saudi Arabia and all across northern Africa are some of these places that were previously under control of the ancient Persian Empire.
I believe the prince of Persia is deployed by Satan at times of divine reformation in the earth to unleash a hindering force of resistance and opposition to revival and transformation. It wants to steal, kill and destroy and prevent the move of God. It will resist revival. It can be bloodthirsty. In Daniel’s day this spirit locked up people, progress and prosperity from God’s people until it’s authority was finally broken. Daniel’s prayers, the people’s repentance, the prophet’s prophecies and the leaders’ obedience, along with angel armies, broke the power of this principality and shifted the advancement of reformation, revival and rebuilding. When the prince of Persia was bound, blessings, provision, authority and favor were extended and God’s plan was advanced, the temple was rebuilt and the land of Israel was restored. (See Ezra chapters 6 & 7)
The Lord spoke to me on October 8th and said to encourage the ekklesia that intercessors are interceptors. Our intercession would act like a spiritual iron dome (the missile defense system over Israel) and intercept the attacks of the enemy. Our warfare is effective.
We are living in a tipping point moment! But the prince of Persia is beating the drums of war, calling for jihad, to attempt to divert God’s plan.

(It’s interesting that I wrote this in October 2023): In July 2023 I heard the Lord say that something was getting ready to happen in Israel and initially our government would stand with Israel. But as time went on support would begin to wain and a wave of anti-semitism would begin to take the hearts and minds of many. We need to pray for the leaders of the US that we would continue to stand with Israel knowing God will bless those who bless Israel. We must pray for Israel. We must pray the United States stays in alignment with our ally. We must pray other nations align properly in these times. We must pray for the innocent people of Gaza. We must pray for amazing revival to sweep these nations. Spiritually speaking the battle is not with people, but with principalities and powers (see Ephesians 6:12), but natural battles must be won as well.
We must follow the pattern set for reformation and pray like Daniel prayed, prophesy like Haggai and Zechariah prophesied and build strategically like Zerubbabel built. We must rise up with the courage of Esther to confront the decrees of death and destruction by writing new decrees and be willing to engage culture like Shadrach, Meshach and Abednigo. We must be willing to shape the laws of the land of reformation as Mordecai did, as Daniel did, as Zerubbabel did, as Ezra did, as Nehemiah did….shifting the culture from that which is hostile towards God to that which embraces the transformative message of the gospel. It’s time to arise and engage as reformers, break through resistance and turn the world upside down!
I hear the Lord say to His people, “Be awake, be alert and be prepared for days of great contending and days of great change. Nations are hanging in the balance during this tipping point moment in history. I am raising up reformers, in both the secular, governmental realm as well as the church realm, who will have the wisdom and courage to mobilize my people to stand against the spirit of resistance in the earth. The battles you win in the Spirit will be quickly evidenced in the natural. Your intercession will result in interception of the enemy’s plan. If you watch the news, pray in the Spirit for I am doing a work which you cannot understand. This is a moment in history that heaven will respond to your prayers. Pray! Stand! Press in! Fight! Prophesy! Win!”
Part Two
So How Do We Pray
To be clear, I am not asking you to personally oppose a demonic principality in your prayer time. I am asking you to spend time praying in your Holy Spirit prayer language to agree with heaven for divine overthrow. Then pray this prayer with me:
Father, you are the Ruler of Heaven and Earth. You warned us we would wrestle with principalities and powers and spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places. Therefore, we come into agreement with heaven to see the overthrow of both the Prince of Persia and his cohorts in the heavenly realm and the wicked regime in the earthly realm. We ask you to send angel armies to aid in this fight against evil. We pray for the safety of Israel and for all believers in Iran and worldwide who are under threat of the decrees of death and destruction. We thank you for a time of divine reversal in the region and in the earth. We thank you for the end of Haman and his 10 sons. We thank you for a time of reformation, awakening and revival in Iran, in Israel and other surrounding nations. We ask that Jesus be enthroned over Iran, and that entire region, and that massive revival will continue for nations to be reformed to the glory of God. In the mighty name of Jesus I pray! Amen.
