We are entering what I believe is a tipping-point moment in history. A tipping point is the point at which momentum has built - sometimes slowly and almost imperceptibly - until a decisive threshold is crossed and movement in a new direction becomes increasingly difficult to reverse.
Prophetically, I believe we are coming to a tipping point moment in which things that have worked against us will begin to work for us. Resistance is giving way to momentum. Besiegement is giving way to breakthrough! Battles that have seemed prolonged are reaching victorious conclusions.
On September 11, 2026, at sundown, we entered the beginning of the Hebrew year 5787. Significantly, this also marked the twenty-fifth anniversary of 9/11 - a day that became a terrible tipping point in modern history. Yet I believe God is announcing another kind of tipping point: a time when things that have been out of order begin to be set right.
Peh-Zayin: The Mouth and the Sword
We are in the Hebrew decade of Peh, a letter associated with the mouth. The 2020s have certainly demonstrated the battle over voices: a time of Voice Wars in which we must answer the questions, "Who will control the narrative? Whose report will we believe? Whose voice will shape a generation?" It is a battle as old as time: Eve heeded the voice of the serpent rather than the voice of God in the garden; Goliath intimidated the mighty armies of Israel with his thunderous curses; even Elijah ran to hide in a cave due to Jezebel's intimidations.
Yet we also see that before David defeated Goliath with the sling and stone, he prophesied his destruction. This year when the devil "prophe-lies" to you about your future, stir up your spirit and prophesy right back!
And our Champion-Hero, Jesus, won the voice wars in the wilderness when the devil came and said to him, "If you are the son of God...". Jesus boldly replied, "It is written!" This is our strategy for victory: open our mouths and say what God says!
We have definitely encountered Voice Wars in culture, media as well as the church. These are spiritual, ideological and even theological battles for the power to define reality, shape belief, influence identity, and determine what people will ultimately say and do. This occurs when competing voices contend for our agreement, because whatever captures our belief will eventually influence what we say. This battle is between competing voices seeking to shape what we believe, gain our agreement, and ultimately activate our voice. The battle is over your voice!
We live in a voice-activated world. We say, "Alexa, turn on the lights," or ask Siri for directions, and something responds to our voice. Spiritually, we must understand that our breakthrough is voice activated! Our miracles are voice activated! There are times when miracles, healing, deliverance and breakthrough are connected to releasing the Word of God from our mouths. Romans 10:9-10 makes this clear regarding salvation: "If you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus, and believe in your heart God has raised him from the dead. you will be saved...". Our mouth activates our belief.
The number seven corresponds with the Hebrew letter Zayin, traditionally pictured as a weapon or sword. Seven throughout Scripture also points us toward completion, covenant, Sabbath rest, fulfillment, covenant. It is a time of rest, reset and release.
Put Peh and Zayin together prophetically and we have a powerful picture: the mouth and the sword - the authority of God's Word placed in our mouths.
God told Joshua: Joshua 1:8 (NKJV): "This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate in it day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success."
Isaiah 49:2 declares, "He has made my mouth as a sharp sword..."
Likewise, God declares: Isaiah 59:21 (NKJV): "'As for Me,' says the LORD, 'this is My covenant with them: My Spirit who is upon you, and My words which I have put in your mouth, shall not depart from your mouth.'"
John saw Jesus in Revelation: Revelation 1:16 (NKJV): "He had in His right hand seven stars, out of His mouth went a sharp two-edged sword, and His countenance was like the sun shining in its strength."
And Jesus declares: Revelation 2:16 (NKJV): "Repent, or else I will come to you quickly and will fight against them with the sword of My mouth."
Hebrews brings these pictures together: Hebrews 4:12 (NKJV): "For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart."
It's interesting the first eleven verses of Hebrews 4 are all about entering in to a Sabbath rest. I find many people are doing lots of spiritual activities: prayer, decrees, spiritual warfare, etc. Yet if this comes from a place or works or striving to see a breakthrough, we are not truly entering into the rest of faith and we are getting worn out. This is why this verse is initially internally focused, rather than on an external victory.
This year we must get this right: we must continue to pray, decree, prophesy and war, but do it from a place of rest and trust, knowing Jesus has paid the ultimate price. We must get ahold of the concept of what I am calling Covenant Warfare which flows from a place of relationship with Jesus, the King of Kings. It's really only through our covenant with the Lord that victory is attained.
Back to Hebrews 4:12: the Greek word translated "two-edged" is distomos, which literally means, two-mouthed, as the ancient world referred to the edge of the sword as its mouth that devours. Think about this! What a prophetic picture! God speaks His Word forming one edge, then we come into agreement and put His Word into our mouths forming a second edge. His mouth and our mouth - two voices in agreement - a two edged sword! Whenever we agree with what God is saying, whenever we agree with what the prophets are releasing, whenever we open our mouths and decree the Word of the Lord, whenever we prophesy, a powerful weapon is released that vanquishes every foe, both internal as well as external.
Likewise, in keeping with the concept of the two-mouthed sword, this year it is especially important to not stand alone or be isolated. There has been a concerted effort by the enemy to bring division and strife, separating and isolating believers from one another. We see this in marriages, families and kingdom relationships. Why has the devil worked so hard? Because there is power in agreement: our mouths joined with the mouths of other believers.
Matthew 18:19-20 tells us, "Again I say to you that if two of you agree on earth concerning anything that they ask, it will be done for them by My Father in heaven. For where two or three are gathered together in My name, I am there in the midst of them." The Greek word translated "agree" is symphoneo - the source behind our English word symphony. It means to sound together, harmonize, or be in accord. We must realize agreement creates a unified sound that penetrates the heavens and shifts things in the earth. There is power in a corporate sound! You will not win the battle you are in without the strength of others. If you aren't in a church, find one. If you don't have friends that know how to pray, make some. Do not stand alone!
In order to win the Voice Wars this year we must add one more caution: the enemy, the accuser, also has a voice. Make sure you are not coming into agreement with his lies, accusations, divisions or attacks on identity and purpose. Remember, his voice is looking for your agreement, because in your agreement he will capture your voice. When you speak, do your words agree with God or the enemy's lies? Do you say what God says about you or what the devil says about you? Whose report will you believe? Who report will you speak?
5 Points of Focus to Win the Voice War
Hear the Right Voice - "My sheep hear My voice." (John 10:27)
Before we speak, we must hear. Discern God's voice above fear, accusation, cultural noise, and competing narratives.
Guard Your Mouth - "Death and life are in the power of the tongue." (Proverbs 18:21)
Refuse to give your voice to fear, unbelief, accusation, or corrupt communication. Don't empower with your mouth what God wants you to overcome.
Put the Sword in Your Mouth - "The sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God." (Ephesians 6:17)
Speak the Word. Jesus is pictured with a sharp sword proceeding from His mouth (Revelation 1:16). Peh and Zayin - voice and sword - come together.
Come Into Agreement With Heaven - "If two of you agree on earth..." (Matthew 18:19)
Agreement creates a unified sound. Ask: What am I agreeing with? Agree with God's Word, God's promises, and God's purposes - and find others who will agree with you.
Release the Sound of Victory - "Let the weak say, 'I am strong.'" (Joel 3:10). The word translated strong can also be translated "I am a warrior" or "I am a champion". Decree this over yourself outloud regardless of your circumstance. Don't wait until the battle is over to sound victorious. Pray, praise, prophesy, proclaim, and decree. Your circumstances do not get the final word - God does.
5787 will see the Voice War intensify. Just remember, winning does not depend on the volume of your voice but on the authority behind what you say. We can actually lose the Voice War when we become consumed with outrage, repeat unverified accusations, demonize people who disagree with us, or allow fear to dictate our speech - even when we believe we're defending something true.
We must be careful to speak blessings and not curses. Stop cursing your marriage, your family, your work place, your church or even your nation by complaining and criticizing. Decree what God says. Decree hope. Decree life. Decree God's Word and declare, 'It is written.'
Your voice matters. War with your prayers, your praise and even prophesy and the atmosphere will shift.
A Decree for 5787:
I decree that in 5787, I will hear the voice of the Lord and I will speak what He speaks!
I will not echo the voice of fear, accusation, unbelief, division, or defeat. I break agreement with every lie of the enemy, every false identity, every negative report, and every word that contradicts the promises of God over my life, my family, my church, my nation and my future.
I choose to come into agreement with Heaven! God's Word will be in my heart and in my mouth. His mouth and my mouth will come into agreement, and the two-edged sword of His Word will cut through lies, confusion, intimidation, and opposition.
I declare that Peh and Zayin - the mouth and the sword - are coming together! I will put the Sword of the Spirit in my mouth. I will pray the Word. I will praise according to the Word. I will prophesy the Word. I will proclaim the Word. I will decree the Word.
I will not war from anxiety, striving, or fear. I will engage in Covenant Warfare from a place of Sabbath rest, knowing that Jesus has already conquered sin, death, hell, and the grave. My confidence is not in the volume of my voice but in the authority of the King whose Word I carry.
I decree that I will not stand alone. God is bringing His people into divine alignment and agreement. Families will come into agreement. Marriages will come into agreement. Churches will come into agreement. Kingdom relationships will be restored, and a unified sound will arise from the people of God.
Resistance is giving way to momentum.
Besiegement is giving way to breakthrough.
Strife is giving way to shalom.
Fear is giving way to faith.
Weariness is giving way to rest.
And prolonged battles are giving way to victorious conclusions!
I will bless and not curse. I will speak hope and not despair. I will speak faith and not fear. I will speak life and not death.
Let the weak say, "I am strong!"
I am a warrior!
I am a champion!
I am an overcomer through Jesus Christ!
My circumstances will not have the final word.
The enemy will not have the final word.
God will have the final word - and I will agree with Him!
In 5787, I will hear the right voice, guard my mouth, put the Sword in my mouth, come into agreement with Heaven, and release the sound of victory.
I will speak life.
I will declare His promises.
I will shift the atmosphere.
I will wield the Sword of His Word.
And by the grace and authority of Jesus Christ,
I WILL WIN THE VOICE WAR!
In Jesus' mighty name, Amen!
